Back again!

I finally got my hands on a new hard drive, so I will continue developing 1Liner.

I am currently working on a category for showing all jokes at a same time.

After that I will create  a category called Custom (or something else), where users can have their own jokes or whatever.

I were thinking of implementing AppToDate support, but will not do that after all. Instead I will have my app out on Gecko (see link on right side of the page), which also will support checking for new versions.

I want to thank the one person who has donated to me; Thank you, it is good to know that people appreciate my work.

My hard drive has crashed. I got backup of everything and all, but I don’t have the cheese (money) to buy a new one just yet.  So further development will be on a break until I get my hands on a new drive.

1Liner 0.5.5 out!

Several sites on the web have linked to my program, which gave it a huge boost in number of downloads! That’s cool!

So, to “celebrate” this, I’ve compiled my latest version; 0.5.5.

The new version includes a better updater and a new category called Fun Facts.

Now also support for WVGA and WQVGA!

Read changelog and get it now!!

And please consider to donate! It is not free for me to host the server and get the right developer tools!

Further progress

Currently working on a new paint method. Now I am using a stupid way to draw images to the screen, and this method requires image sets for every screen type (vga, qvga etc.).  Trying to create a way to just have one image set, which automatically can resize the images for the screen.

Will also implement WQVGA and WVGA support!

Will also add a fun fact category.

Next version will not be released before these things are implemented!

What’s next?

- The next “big” thing going on with 1Liner is a function which allows users to update the joke text files.  This way users will not need to install a new version of the program everytime they want new jokes.

I am also thinking about creating a form where people can send in their own jokes.

- I’ve added a function that copies the current joke to clipboard, so you later on can paste it in a SMS/MMS/IM client and send it to your friends!

- Fixed file / folder structure in install directory.

- Added some more jokes.

Object oriented programming

Until now I haven’t used OO-programming. When I began the project I didn’t think about that, but now I can see that as the code grows, it becomes more and more difficult to follow.  So I am creating more classes and moving some code around to make it easier.

For now I have only created a jokehandler class and a screen class.

Now I am working on a button to see the previous joke again. Sometimes I press next joke too fast, and want to go back to read the previous joke.

Also trying to figure out how to copy the joke, create new text message and past it there. This way you can send jokes to people easily.
